Emerging Scholarship
Everyone knows that the cost of college is overwhelmingly high, and picking the right college to go to as a high school student is a long and stressful process. Despite this, many students are excluded from scholarships like Cincinnatus because they did not submit their application to UC early enough, or they simply did not reach their highest level of achievement in high school. To ensure that all students have the opportunity to be rewarded for strong classroom success, we propose the “mid-year” scholarship program. Students will be able to apply for and receive renewable, merit-based scholarships after they have completed one academic semester.
We the Bearcats
In most cases, individuals with the best ideas on how to improve the student experience are the students themselves. In spite of that, it can be challenging for a student to voice their concerns to the people who can enact change. In order to complete our mission of elevating the student voice, we propose an organized petition program. Whether it’s a serious concern or thoughtful innovation, students will have the opportunity to submit a petition to Student Government and collect signatures to show its strength. Once these steps are completed, we will connect with the students involved, and ensure that the correct administrators issue a response.
Hola! Ni Hao! Jambo!
According to the 2015 Student Fact Book there are 3,103 international students at UC, and the university expects this number to grow to more than 5,000 by 2019. The university boasts of being one of the most welcoming schools in the world for non-American students, and yet offers very little on-campus space to truly make UC their home away from home. We propose to significantly increase the space for international students on our campus, and ensure that they have a strong resource base to maximize their success in Cincinnati.
