What makes you qualified to run? We are most qualified to serve as your Student Body President and Vice President because we have a track record of success which proves that when we start a project, we finish it. I have been fortunate to run and be elected At Large Senator since my freshman year and from then, I have continuously accomplished my platform year after year. I have stayed away from making promises I can’t keep and have ensured that when possible, to collaborate with others. Andrew Griggs and I have made sure that we surround ourselves with different people and different experiences so we can learn as much as possible as we realize that we have a very limited perspective due to the identities that we have. We are not afraid to be honest and believe that is what the student body deserves.
Why are you running for Student Body President? I am tired of maintaining the status quo as I believe it exists to be challenged. Student Government’s main purpose it to advocate and to empower, not to serve as an additional programming board for the University. I believe Student Government has lost sight of this and that it no longer advocates for the common needs of the student body nor is it empowering our rising leaders to do so either. Often, I hear that Student Government is an ally but realistically, we only do so when it is convenient for us. We have strayed from our mission of representing students and I believe it is time for that to change.

What makes you qualified to run? Making a real, tangible difference for the student experience is what Naab and I are all about- and we’ve got the track record to prove it. Titles and years of experience are one thing, but both of us have shown that we are ready to get our hands dirty when it comes to fixing real problems. For the past 3 years, I have led planning for UC’s career fairs, and we’ve seen the number of companies coming to campus double over that period. In fall semester I helped launch a free student shuttle program to the airport. Anyone can come up with cool ideas, but I think it’s our proven history of making a difference that makes us qualified candidates for Student Body President & Vice-President.
Why are you running for Student Body Vice-President? Right now, I don’t think Student Government is focusing on things that benefit the average student. I want to help change that. I’m especially passionate about focusing on affordability, because despite being something that affects every single student on campus, we hardly ever talk about rising tuition rates or ridiculous textbook prices. I want to help us make a real difference and advocate for what really matters.
